Finance Minister Ngafuan Says Liberia Receiving Huge Int’l Support

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Finance Minister, Augustine Ngafuan, says Liberia continues to receive tremendous international support because of the increased credibility partners have in the UP-led government. 

Minister Ngafuan said,” Such support has led to many sectors realizing significant growth, especially in road connectivity, energy supplies, and healthcare delivery”.

He disclosed that, besides partners’ support, Liberia’s national budget over the past two years has improved the livelihoods of the people.

Minister Ngafuan promised to always collaborate with partners to ensure Liberia experiences rapid growth and development.

Speaking at the opening of the day-long Liberia Country Portfolio and Performance gathering in Monrovia on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Minister Ngafuan thanked sector heads for getting government performance to a considerable level.

Meanwhile, World Bank – Liberia Country Manager, Georgia Wallen, says the overall objective of its partnerships is to build a strong foundation for positive outcomes.

According to Madam Wallen, this is followed by high standards, which the Liberian Government is in line with.

She noted that the second country portfolio and performance gathering is intended to look at challenges and how gaps can be addressed to move the country forward.

Madam Wallen spoke on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in Monrovia at a day-long Liberia Country Portfolio and Performance Review Gathering organized by the Liberian Government and World Bank.

The event presents an opportunity for heads of ministries and agencies to engage on core success factors and challenges to project implementation and risk management to drive portfolio performance.
