Liberian Muslims Prepare for Hajj to Mecca, Saudi Arabia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Hundreds of Muslims are attending a two-day seminar in Monrovia, ahead of this year’s pilgrimage to Mecca, at the Unity Mosque in Sinkor.

The seminar is intended to teach pilgrims the proper way of performing the annual Hajj, including health and safety measures.

Speaking at the opening program, the Chairman of the National Muslim Council of Liberia, Alhaji Abraham Fumbah Sheriff, said,” More than one thousand Liberian Muslims are expected to perform this year’s Hajj”.

Chairman Sheriff said discussions during the seminar include the overview of the Hajj, logistics, cultural sensitivity, and interaction with pilgrims from other countries.

Meanwhile, participants have welcomed the initiative and expressed hope for a peaceful and successful pilgrimage this year.

At the same time, the National Muslim Council of Liberia has assured Liberian pilgrims that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth and successful Hajj process this year.

The Council’s Deputy Grand Mufti, Sheikh Abdullah Kromah, said,” The arrangements were established by Hajj agencies, in collaboration with the National Muslim Council of Liberia.

Sheikh Kromah urged intending pilgrims to remain focused on the spiritual purpose of the pilgrimage and avoid activities that are not in line with the values of the Hajj.

The Deputy Mufti also called on pilgrims to pray for peace, unity, and continued progress for Liberia and its leaders during their stay in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
