38-year-old man Drowns in Sand Pit in Saclepea

NIMBA COUNTY, LIBERIA-A 38-year-old man has drowned in a sand pit in Gbowor Town, Saclepea, Nimba County.

Early Tuesday morning, April 22, 2026, Lawrence Gordon left his home for a sand mining operation in a nearby community and did not return until his body was found.

His body was discovered in the sand pit, following a thorough search by community members.

A fifteen-man coroner jury set up to check the body said in their preliminary findings that there was no foul play.

Our Correspondent said this is the second sand-mining related death reported in the last two months, following the drowning of a lady in Tappita, last month.
