Agric. Minister Says Liberia Making Concrete Advancement in Firming Food Systems

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Agriculture Minister Alexander Nuetah says Liberia is making tangible progress in strengthening its food systems.

Minister Nuetah highlighted Liberia’s strong partnership with development institutions, which has supported the expansion of irrigation systems and rice processing facilities across Liberia.

Speaking on the margins of the World Bank and the IMF’s Spring Meetings in the United States recently, he noted that scaling up these gains requires sustained investment and innovative partnerships.

Minister Nuetah also raised concerns over the impact of global shocks, including rising fuel and fertilizer prices, which pose risks to agricultural productivity and food availability.

The Liberian Agriculture Minister called for timely and flexible support to protect vulnerable populations and sustain progress in the sector.
