MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Women NGOs Secretariat of Liberia (WONGOSOL) has presented over 600 dignity kits, worth over 700 thousand US dollars, to several institutions in Monrovia.

The kits, presented to the Ministries of Health and Gender, UN Women, and other partnering institutions, aimed at supporting survivors of sexual gender-based violence (SGBV).

At the handover ceremony on Friday, March 27, 2026, WONGOSOL’s Executive Director, Esther Yango, said,” The initiative aims at boosting efforts in ending all forms of violence against women, especially female genital mutilation (FGM)”.

The project is being implemented in six counties, including Bong, Bomi, Gbarpolu, Bopolu, Grand Cape Mount, and Margibi.

Madam Yango emphasized the need for the government to increase budgetary support to the fight against FGM.

Meanwhile, Representatives from UN Women and the Ministries of Gender and Health welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention.

They highlighted that the distribution will help restore confidence and provide immediate relief to affected women and girls, especially in hard-to-reach communities.

The institutions reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration with partners to ensure survivors receive comprehensive care, including medical, psychosocial, and legal support.

They also stressed the importance of sustained funding and community awareness to eliminate harmful practices such as female genital mutilation and other forms of violence against women.
