Pres. Boakai to Launch 365- Day Nat’l Action Plan Today

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai will launch the 365-Day National Action Plan to reduce Maternal and Newborn Mortality in Liberia.

An Executive Mansion release says the National Plan aims to accelerate the reduction of maternal and newborn mortality across the country.

The release termed the initiative as the Liberian Government’s way of safeguarding the lives of women and children, as well as strengthening the national health system to deliver quality, equitable, and accessible healthcare services.

The Action Plan, when launched, will focus on strengthening emergency obstetric and newborn care services across all health facilities and ensure that every delivery is attended by trained health professionals.

The Plan will also be designed to train and deploy additional midwives and frontline health workers, particularly in rural and underserved communities, among others.
