Health Ministry Officially Hands over C.H. Rennie Hospital’s Construction to Resco Construction Company

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Health has officially handed over the construction of the C.H. Rennie Hospital project in Margibi County.

The 4.7 million U.S dollar project is expected to last for thirty-six months, with collaboration from the Ministry of Health, local county authorities, elders, and community residents, among others.

Speaking at the turning over ceremony on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Health, Martha Morris, said,” The new hospital will have two hundred fifty beds and several modern facilities”.

She named a nursing school, workers’ residence, a maternal waiting home, and playgrounds, among others, that will be added to the state-of-the-art project.

Deputy Minister Morris praised President Joseph Boakai and Health Minister Louise Kpoto for the strides made in ensuring that the project kick-starts.

Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Margibi County, O. Jay Morris, has acknowledged President Joseph Boakai’s vision to upgrade the C.H. Rennie Hospital from an eighty-five-bedroom facility to a two hundred fifty-bedroom hospital.

Superintendent Morris said,” The groundbreaking ceremony was done during the previous administration, but the Boakai administration is ensuring that full construction works commence and are completed”.

He further noted that President Boakai has brought on board committed stakeholders, who are prepared to support his development agenda across all sectors.

Superintendent Morris also encouraged residents of the county to oversee the project responsibly to ensure its successful completion.

Superintendent O. Jay Morris, meanwhile, guaranteed the safety and security of all materials and engineers working on the project.

At the same time, residents of Margibi County have expressed gratitude to the President and the Ministry of Health for the initiative.

Since August 2021, the C.H. Rennie Hospital has been gutted by fire, leaving the county without a referral hospital.

Residents believed that with the intervention and work of the government, the project would help the county regain its standards and strengthen the health system in the region.

Meanwhile, the contractor for the project, Resco Construction Company, has expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Health for entrusting them with such a significant undertaking.

They assured the county authorities and the government that the project would be completed within the specified timeframe.

Resco Construction Company also called on residents and officials to collaborate with them to ensure that the project is completed.
