MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has unveiled the establishment of the Yellow Machines Board of Directors (YMBOA).
President Boakai also appointed the former Defense Minister, Brownie Samukai, as Executive Chairperson of the Coordinating Committee.
The establishment comes in advance of the arrival of the first batch of two hundred eighty-five machines in Liberia, secured by the Government of Liberia in China for massive road and other infrastructure developments.
An Executive Mansion release said the Board comprises Ministries of Public Works, Finance, National Defense, Local Government, and the General Services Agency (GSA).
The release added that a member of the Special Presidential Project Coordinating Committee (SPPCC) will serve as Secretary to the Board.
The Board’s mandate is primarily to oversee the development of a rigorous policy and management framework for the efficient maintenance and utilization of the machines.
It shall further serve as the central authority for the receipt, accountability, efficient cost management, operations, storage, and maintenance of the machines.
Meanwhile, the Liberian Leader has constituted the SPPCC, comprising Brownie Samukai as National Coordinator, Roger Domah, Deputy Coordinator for Administration, and St. Jerome Larbelee, Deputy Coordinator for Operations and Technical Services.
Others are Emmanuel Monlue, Assistant Coordinator, Policy and General Services, and Ibrahim Kiazolu as Comptroller.
According to a statement from the Executive Mansion, a support staff team will be assembled to serve the Coordinating Committee.
The SPPCC, under the guidance of the Yellow Machines Board of Directors, has the mandate to strategically manage, coordinate, maintain, and operate the effective utilization of the machines as a Special Presidential Project.
The SPPCC shall also coordinate with all statutory agencies of the government that are constituent members of the Board.
A cardinal responsibility of the SPPCC is to prepare and submit to the Board THE National Deployment Plan for approval and to implement the approved plan, while reporting monthly on all activities and the status of the equipment.
