Ministry of Nat’l Defense Unveils Preparations for Armed Forces Day 2026 Celebrations

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of National Defense has announced preparations for the celebrations of Armed Forces Day 2026.

The Day will be celebrated under the theme: Securing Liberia Together.

The Deputy Minister for Operations at the Defense Ministry, Spencer Leeco, said,” The event will highlight the AFL’s role in protecting national peace and stability”.

Minister Leeco noted that activities will focus on strengthening civil-military relations and promoting patriotism among citizens.

He also said the ministry continues to monitor security operations, including the protection of the Sapo National Park.

The Deputy Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving recruitment and training within the Armed Forces of Liberia.

Meanwhile, the ministry has released the official itinerary for this year’s Armed Forces Day celebration.

Deputy Minister Leeco named a 7.5-kilometer run, rehearsals, and the issuance of new uniforms to curtail duplication of the Army’s uniform.

He also referred to the just-ended military symposium to build an effective inter-agency framework to combat drug trafficking and organized crime.

He then named Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Major Gen. Waidi Shaibu, as Orator of this year’s Armed Forces Day celebration.

Deputy Minister Spencer Leeco revealed the ministry’s upcoming Civil-Military Operations, including a clean-up campaign and medical outreach, which is planned for February 7, among other activities.
