Gov. of Liberia Makes clear Civil Servants’ Salaries Issue for December

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has clarified that it does not owe civil servants any salaries for December.

Lately, there have been reports that some civil servants did not receive salaries for December or before Christmas.

Responding to the claims in an ELBC interview on Friday, December 26, 2025, the Director General of the Civil Service Agency, Dr. Josiah Joekai, said,” Contrary to the claims, the government paid all civil servants their salaries for the month of December”.

Dr. Joekai said some civil servants experienced a delay in the payment of their salaries due to the ongoing transition of the national payroll to an automated system.

The CSA Director General said,” Since 2024, the government has been regular in remitting the salaries of civil servants”.

Dr. Josiah Joekai described the social media reports as deliberate propaganda intended to blackmail the government.
