Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency Arrests Nigerian National for Smuggling Methamphemine

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has arrested a Nigerian, Vitalis Obiese, at the Sanniquellie Checkpoint.

The forty-one-year-old suspect was apprehended on Monday, December 15, 2025, during a random search, while en route to Monrovia from the Ivory Coast, when the officers discovered six parcels containing tablets of a suspected controlled substance.

According to an LDEA release, the test conducted on the tablet seized has confirmed it to be Methamphetamine.

The seized three thousand tablets street value is estimated at one hundred eighty US dollars, and over thirty-one million Liberian dollars.

The suspect is currently being detained at the LDEA Ganta Office for further investigation and will be forwarded to court for trial in keeping with the law.

The LDEA remains committed to preventing the trafficking and distribution of illicit drugs across Liberia.
