Gov. of Liberia Assures of 2026 Nat’l Budget’s Impact on Key Sectors

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has assured that the 2026 National Budget will have a significant impact on key sectors of Liberia.

According to the government, the budget, which is tied to the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, reflects the aspirations of the Liberian people.

The message of the government was delivered by the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Augustine Ngafuan, during a Special Press Briefing on Monday, November 10, 2025, in Monrovia.

Minister Ngafuan named the General Auditing Commission (GAC), Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Education, Agriculture, and Road, among others, that will improve under the new budget.

He said,” The Draft National Budget also has additional allotments for health workers, especially when the New Redemption Hospital starts full operations earlier next year”.

The Minister of Finance also highlighted the inclusion of the ELWA Hospital in the budget to avoid it shutting down.

At the same time, the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) is projecting 1.4 billion US Dollars for the next budget year.

LRA Commissioner General Dorbor Jallah said,” The move is triggered by the 2026 Draft National Budget of 1.2 billion USD”.

Commissioner General Dorbor told a MICAT Press Briefing that the goal is to deliver the needs and aspirations of Liberians through tangible developments.

The LRA Head is seeking the support of the Liberian media to help widen discussions on revenue mobilization to foster national development.

Meanwhile, Commissioner General Dorbor Jallah also urged Liberians and foreign investors to see tax compliance as an engine that drives national development.
