Pres. Boakai Pledges Liberia’s Strong Commitment to Upholding Zero-Tolerance

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has pledged Liberia’s unwavering commitment to upholding its zero-tolerance policy on rape and other gender-based violence-related issues.

President Boakai also vowed to support appropriate educational programs, increase budgetary allocation, and create nationwide awareness campaigns that involve women and girls.

Speaking at the Fourth World Conference on Women in New York, United States of America, on Monday, September 23, 2025, the Liberian Leader emphasized the implementation of the National Action Plan for Young Women and Girls to provide a roadmap for empowerment, voice, and protection.

President Boakai reiterated the Government of Liberia’s stance on the eradication of all harmful practices by elevating the three-year moratorium imposed to a national law.

The Liberian Chief Executive described the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action 30th Anniversary gathering as not just a ceremonial occasion, but as an urgent call to action.

Meanwhile, President Boakai has disclosed that the government will invest 8.3 million US Dollars to advance gender equality, education, healthcare, and social development at every level across Liberia.

The Liberian Leader also noted that Liberia will leverage its non-permanent membership seat on the UN Security Council to ensure that the voices of women and youth are not only heard, but are instrumental in shaping global policies on women, peace, and security.

President Boakai said,” When women are fully empowered and supported, the entire nation thrives”.

President Joseph Boakai revealed that the Government of Liberia’s empowerment programs are already transforming lives, reaching thirty-six thousand business women across the counties and positively impacting more than two hundred and sixty thousand Liberians through increased income, resilience, and growth.
