Former Liberian Pres. Johnson-Sirleaf Challenges Global Leaders…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s former President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has challenged global leaders to take concrete steps in harnessing global peace and security.

Madam Sirleaf said,” The maintenance of peace and security requires the collective commitment and investment of global leaders and international organizations”.

The former Liberian President made the statement on Monday, September 22, 2025, when she addressed a high-level meeting on peace and security at the ongoing UN General Assembly in New York, the United States of America.

According to Madam Sirleaf, peace must not only be built in conference rooms, where girls learn without fear, and in clinics where mothers deliver safely.

Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf called on the UN, regional bodies, civil society organizations, and governments globally to work hand in hand in finding amicable solutions to issues that threaten global peace and stability.
