Gov. of Liberia to Raise Additional 16m USD from Storage Fees at Liberia Petroleum Refining Company

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia is expected to raise an additional 16 million US Dollars in revenue from storage fees at the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC).

It followed the endorsement of the Liberian Senate’s recommendations by President Joseph Boakai recently.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in Monrovia, the Liberian Senate Committee Chair on Ways, Means, Finance, and Budget, Prince Moye, said,” The amount was discovered based on the innovation of the Liberian Senate to investigate storage fees at the LPRC.

The Bong County Senator said the amount expected to be raised annually will go towards social programs amid the USAID drawdown.

Senator Moye thanked President Joseph Boakai for endorsing the report and allowing the National Legislature to work independently.

At the same time, the Senate Committee on Defense, Security, Intelligence, and Veteran Affairs has concluded a meeting with a delegation from the EU.

The meeting focused on exploring how Liberia and the EU can partner in monitoring peace and security in the Sahel region to prevent potential spillover effects into the West African Region.

The engagement also highlighted key issues, including counterterrorism, anti-jihadist operations, uncontrolled migration flows, and maritime patrols.

Other issues discussed are arms smuggling, drug trafficking, combating misinformation,n and anti-money laundering.

It was attended by the Senate Committee Chair on Defense, Momo Cyrus, Senators Abraham Darius Dillon, Darbah Varpilah, Nathaniel McGill, and Numene Bartekwa.
