Liberia Football Champions, FC Fassell, are keeping their feet on the pedals despite the untimely resignation of Belgian coach Ivan Minaert by appointing another experienced European coach.
The Soccer Mission on Wednesday unveiled Coach Amir Alagic, an Australian-Bosnian tactician, as their new head coach.
Coach Alagic, who said he didn’t have much information about Liberian Football besides stories of George Weah, took the job as a new challenge for his career.
Coach Alagic told reporters, “I had other offers from different places and teams, but I chose Fassell because I believe in building a legacy. Together, we can achieve something unprecedented in this country. We can transform Liberia into a football powerhouse in West Africa”.
He added that he has traveled the world, and it’s rare to find someone so dedicated and willing to invest and sacrifice for the glory of his country through football.
“It’s heartbreaking, two decades after the era of Mr. George Weah, a nation rich in talent remains absent from the top international stage,” the new FC Fassell manager added.
Coach Alagic, who is a former SV Werder Bremen Assistant Coach, has traveled around the world coaching several international clubs and national teams.

The new FC Fassell coach was unveiled alongside five foreign-based players from The Gambia, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal, and two local players to bolster the Soccer Missionaries ahead of their CAF and LFA 2025/2026 competitions.
