Zwedru-based 3rd division club Paris FC did not just make history, but also used football to console Grand Gedeans who were mourning the demise of the late former First Lady Nancy B. Doe and the late former Chief Patron of Sports, President Samuel K. Doe.
Paris FC did so Sunday, June 29, 2025, by beating Margibi County Susa FC 1-0 in the final of the 2025 LFA National 3rd Division Playoff.
Their victory means the Zwedru city boys earn for themselves a slot in the LFA 2nd division.
Paris FC become the first team from Grand Gedeh County and the second team from the South East to qualify to the LFA second prestigious league.
This means Zwedru will witness LFA’s second division league matches next season.
Paris FC qualified to the 2nd division earlier on Saturday when they eliminated Montserrado County’s remaining side Golden Dream FC 3-1 to get to the National Playoff grand finale.
They completed the season on a fine note, lifting the Playoff crown in the presence of their jubilant supporters, becoming the first team to do so from the South East.
News of Paris FC winning promotion to the LFA 2nd division and lifting the cup brought joy to the people of Grand Gedeh, who were recuperating from the demise of the county’s two top citizens.
Several mourners in Zwedru city broke out in celebrations when the news from the Albert T. White Stadium confirmed that the county has won a second division slot in the LFA League.
The citizens said the promotion news will now add pressure on the Liberia Football Association to construct a turf at the Albert T. White stadium.
