Eleven Specialized Spanish Doctors to Conduct Free Surgeries in Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Eleven specialized doctors from Spain are in Liberia to conduct free surgeries in Bong County.

The Spanish doctors are in the country under the auspices of Bong County Senator Prince Moye, in collaboration with “Physicians and Doctors without Borders”.

At the official welcoming ceremony in Paynesville City, recently, Senator Moye said:” The Spanish doctors will perform different surgeries at the C.B Dunbar Hospital in Gbarnga and the health center in Palala.”

According to the Bong County Lawmaker, the withdrawal of USAID is hugely affecting the Health and Education Sectors, prompting the need for short-term intervention, especially in health.

Senator Moye lauded the “Physicians and Doctors without Borders” for the partnership, and affirmed his office’s full support during the five-day stay of the doctors in the country.

Meanwhile, the Director of the organization, Dr. Ayun Cassell, said:” The surgical outreach is targeting different health complications, including hernia, hydrocele, and other general surgeries targeting about one hundred fifty patients.”

For his part, the Team Head of the delegation, Dr. Antonio Satorras, said:” The team was pleased to be in Liberia to perform such a critical task.”
