Senator McGill Appears before the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Margibi County Senator Nathaniel McGill on Wednesday appeared before the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) to answer questions regarding the ongoing investigation into allegations of payroll padding during his time as Minister of State for Presidential Affairs.

Senator McGill arrived at the LACC Headquarters in Monrovia under the legal jurisdiction of Cllr. Syrenius Cephas, former Solicitor General of Liberia.

The LACC has informed Senator McGill of allegations of payroll padding and acts of corruption resulting from salary payments affecting a Supplementary Payroll containing seven hundred twenty-eight names at the Ministry of State.

According to the LACC, the alleged payroll process at the time was created outside of the framework of the Civil Service Agency (CSA).

The release said details of the allegations revealed that the Supplementary Payroll, which contains those names, was allegedly created under Senator McGill’s instruction as Minister of State, then.

The LACC stated that such a process was marred by irregularities amounting to payroll padding, citing administrative malpractice and acts of corruption, among others.

Meanwhile, Cllr. Syrenius Cephas, Legal Advisor to the Margibi County Senator, described the appearance of his client as obedience to the rule of law.
