Gov. of Liberia Dispatches Investigative Team to Bea Mountain Company…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Mines and Energy, has dispatched a team to Bea Mountain Mining Company in Kinjor, Grand Cape Mount County to investigate an accident involving g a contractor.

A video evidence in the possession of this station shows the right hand of the victim, Varney Watson, cut off and a deep cut in his back.

Deputy Mines and Energy Minister William Hines told ELBC on Monday, June 10, 2024, that the team, headed by Assistant Minister of Mines, Carlos Tingban Edison, is investigating circumstances that led to the incident.

Minister Hines stated that the Government, amongst other things, will recommend an improved safety environment and call for the victim to be flown out of the country for advanced medical treatment.

The Deputy Mines and Energy Minister urged the community and family members of Varney Watson to remain calm as the Government is doing all it can to ensure the Company gives the best care to the victim.
