MONROVIA, LIBERIA- The Chairman of the Board of the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary and Foreign Minister, Dee-Maxwell Kemayah, has described the Liberian church as a beacon of hope for societal transformation.
Minister Kemayah said:” The church is under sacred obligation to push for a society of integrity and honesty.”
The Chief Diplomat made the call over the weekend at the 41st Commencement Convocation of the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary in Paynesville City.
Minister Kemayah urged graduates of the Seminary to embody integrity in their personal and professional lives.
He also wants graduates of the Seminary to advocate for justifiable practices, promote environmental education, and work toward a better Liberia.
The Foreign Minister called on the graduates, including the larger Liberian population, to foster peace, reconciliation, and unity by bridging divides and promoting dialogue amongst the Liberian citizenry.
Meanwhile, Minister Kemayah has hailed President George Weah for his practical commitment to the fight against corruption in Liberia.
He said the courage demonstrated by the Liberian Leader in the corruption fight over the years signals his quest for a better Liberia.
The Liberian Foreign Minister made specific reference to the prosecutorial powers given to the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) under the leadership of President Weah.
The Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary Board Chairman said:” The unprecedented powers given to the LACC now give the Anti-Graft Institution the long-desired teeth to bite in the fight against the menace.”
At the same time, the Seminary wants the Liberian Government to provide financial support to it.
The President of the Seminary, Dr.Momolu Massaquoi, said:” The Seminary is directly or indirectly contributing to the growth of Liberia.”
Rev. Massaquoi spoke to reporters after the Seminary’s 41st Commencement Convocation.
The Seminary President believes such support will go a long way in helping the institution to continuously provide quality theological education for aspiring Liberians.
Rev. Dr. Momolu Massaquoi maintained that the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary is committed to contributing to the nation-building process through human development.
