Pro-tempore Chie Terms Sanction Allegations False, Misleading, Unfounded…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Senate Pro-tempore Albert Chie has termed false, misleading, and unfounded allegations levied against him and two other officials of the Liberian Government.

The US Department of State on December 11 designated for sanctions, Senators Albert Chie, Emmanuel Nuquay, and Finance Minister Samuel Tweah.

Speaking in the Chambers of the Liberian Senate on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, Pro-tempore Chie said:” At no time me and my sanctioned colleagues solicit money from the Private and Public Sectors and offer to Senators to pass laws.”

Senator Chie said:” The move indicates that Washington has been misinformed and misguided by detractors.”

Pro-tempore Chie added that he and those named on Monday, December 11, will take advantage of the legal process available through the US Legal System to get off the sanctions.

It is not yet clear whether the Grand Kru County Senator’s in plenary meets the acquiescence of the other sanctioned officials.
