Pres. Weah describes as false and misleading…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has described as false and misleading, reports by international media outlets that he supports the bid of Algeria to host the 2025 African Cup of Nations.

An Executive Mansion release issued recently quotes President Weah as clarifying that he has already expressed “strong” support for the Moroccan bid, instead.

The President cited the remarkable investments Morocco continues to make towards the development of football, saying she deserves a chance to host the biggest African Fiesta.

The release further quotes President Weah as saying Morocco brought immense pride to Africa at the just ended World Cup in Doha, Qatar, and as such, Africa must honor them with the right to host the 2025 Nations Cup.

The former FIFA World Best Player said he has already begun campaigning for Morocco with football stakeholders around the continent.

Morocco announced its bid after FIFA stripped Guinea of its rights to host the tournament.
