Students at Harbel College wants the College’s President resign

HARBEL, MARGIBI COUNTY, LIBERIA-Students of Harbel College have issued a press statement calling for the immediate removal of the College’s President, Syrulwa Somah.

On Monday, September 19, 2022, the head of the group, James Karngar, said:” Since Dr. Somah took over in 2016, the College has retrogressed over the last few years.”

He said the aggrieved students will present their petition to the Board Chairperson, Madam Louise Reeves, this Thursday, September 22, 2022.

They called on the Ministry of Education, the Commission on Higher Education, the Superintendent of Margibi County, and the Margibi Legislative Caucus to promptly intervene to restore parity at the institution.

The students said that if nothing is done by stakeholders to remedy the situation,, they will extend their protest to other schools as of Tuesday, September 20,2022.

The problems at the College have been compounded by a go-slow by faculty of the school since September 5, 2022.

Dr. Syrulwa Somah is currently in the United States.
