Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) elects new leadership

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE), has elected Foreign Minister Dee-Maxwell Kemayah in absentia, as Political Leader of the opposition party.

Though Minister Kemayah is on a delegation to the UN General Assembly in the United States, he was elected along with Robert Sammy; the Party’s former suspended Secretary General now the National Chairman.

Delegates from across the fifteen counties converged in Monrovia to elect the new leaders of MOVEE over the weekend, during an emergency Convention in Paynesville, ahead of the 2023 Presidential and Legislative Elections.

Speaking briefly following the convention, MOVEE newly elected National Chairman; Robert Sammy, called for unity among stalwarts and partisans in order to move the party forward.

Chairman Sammy noted that MOVEE, as a political party, was built on a foundation seeking to bring economic transformation to the impoverished people of Liberia.

Chairman Sammy further urged Liberians to begin projecting a positive image of the Country to the International Community, rather than always spreading the falsehoods.

Chairman Sammy told the delegation that the function of an opposition party is not to be bitter with the ruling administration, but rather to make suggestions aimed at improving the wellbeing of the citizens.
