Man sentenced to forty-years for rape and murder in Margibi County

MARGIBI COUNTY, LIBERIA-A thirty-one-year-old man has been sentenced to forty-years in prison, for raping and killing a thirteen-rear-old girl in Margibi County.

Abraham Wentoe sexually abused and later murdered the girl in December last year, when her parents sent her to purchase peanut butter.

According to ELBC Correspondent, while on her way to buy the item, Mr. Wentoe asked the girl to get his cellphone from his room, where he carried out the act.

The convict reportedly hid the body of the victim in his room and subsequently tried to bury her in the nearby swamp at night, when he spotted by a neighbor who reported the incident to the girl’s parents.

The guilty verdict was read by Judge Mardea Chenoweth of the 13th Judicial Circuit Court in Kakata, Margibi County.

Meanwhile, the Court’s verdict has been welcomed by Civil Society Organizations, citizens and parents of the victim.
