34 Year-old Woman faces trial for allegedly trafficking girls to the Kingdom of Oman

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A 34-year-old woman is being prosecuted at Criminal Court ‘A’ at the Temple of Justice for trafficking to the State of Oman, in the Middle East, several Liberian girls.

Retina Capehart is said to have arranged trafficking ploy by convincing her victims into believing that they were travelling to the Middle East for better job and living opportunities.

She was arrested by the police following complaint filed by a 24 year-old woman, who alleged that she and her sister were taken to Oman by the Defendant under similar circumstances.

The Court charged that between March and December 2021, Defendant Capehart did, knowingly, purposely, intentionally and criminally recruited several Liberian girls to the Kingdom of Oman, under the pretext of giving them opportunity to pursue greener pasture.

One of the witnesses testified that the Defendant extorted between three and five-hundred United States Dollars from them and took them to the Kingdom of Oman, where she claimed they will be paid seven to eight-hundred US Dollars monthly, upon their arrival.

The witness also stated that they were assured by the Defendant that they will work at a company where will earn the amount, which all turned out to be misleading.
