MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Former Chairman of the Bong County Project Management Committee has identified capacity gap, in the county administration, as a major factor responsible for the damning outcome of latest audit report on the county.

The recent General Auditing Commission’s (GAC) report on the management of Bong County Development Funds, from 2018 to 2021, uncovered massive financial improprieties.

While alleging corruption in the County’s leadership, Emmanuel Diabolo believes the outcome of the audit is not surprising, citing lack of system and control in the management of the funds.

He said:” Audit will always uncover improprieties, because of leaders’ reluctance to formulate fiscal policies that clearly guide the usage of funds.”

Mr. Diabolo, however, recommended the crafting of policies at the PMC and county levels, consistent with financial laws and regulations, if the county would perform well in future audits.
