Nigerian arrested with 1Million counterfeit Liberian Banknotes

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A 33 year old Nigerian man, identified as Ementuche Benjamin, has been arrested with huge counterfeit Liberian Dollar banknotes in Lofa County.

Suspect Benjamin was caught with one-million Liberian Dollars fake banknotes all in five-hundred denominations, by the Joint Security at the Solumba Port of entry.

Lofa County Assistant Police Commissioner, Clement Barlet, told ELBC Correspondent that suspect Benjamin also had in his possession other items, including cellphones.

He told police that he converted the money in the Ivory Coast, while enroute to Liberia but did not know the money was counterfeit.

Suspect Benjamin is now in the custody of the Liberian Immigration Service (LIS).
