Youth and Sports Minister clarifies gov’t funding for Liberian athletes at Japan Olympic-2021 Games

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Ministry of youth and sports has clarified that the Liberian Government made available ninety thousand United States dollars to the Liberian Olympic team in Tokyo, Japan.

Youth and Sports minister Zeogar Wilson said the Clarification is in response to media reports that the government did not fund the athletes at the Olympic Games.

Speaking with ELBC Thursday, Minister Wilson said the allegation is only intended to paint a negative picture of the Government and the team at the competition.

The Liberian Sports Minister however lauded the Liberian athletes for fully representing Liberia at the Olympic Games in Japan.(By Michael Weah)
