Closure of schools will be done in phases-Education Minister Sonii

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Education Minister Ansu Sonii says the closure of schools for this academic year will be done in phases, contrary to public outcry for the abrupt closure of schools.

Minister Sonii explained that kids in kindergarten will remain in school up to July 10, while elementary and Junior High students will complete the semester by early August this year.

As part of the new timeline, senior High School students will remain in school up to the end of September.

Minister      Sonii said:” The decision was reached following a meeting with education stakeholders in the Country.”

Meanwhile, the Education Minister has maintained that the dates for the conduct of public exams for third, sixth, ninth and twelfth graders remain unchanged.
