MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Foreign Minister Dee-Maxwell Kemayah has congratulated Guinea and Sierra Leone for resolving, through dialogue, the situation at the Yenga border between the two countries.

Ambassador Kemayah said Liberia will continue to work with its neighbors for the reopening of other closed borders and the sustenance of peace and security in the Mano River Basin. Minister Kemayah was speaking at the ECOWAS Mediation and Security Meeting in Ghana.

On the security situation in the region, he Liberia stands ready to continue to support efforts of international partners and the ECOWAS Commission to speedily implement the Action Plan for the eradication of terrorism in the region.

Meanwhile Minister Kemayah said Liberia is concerned about the unwelcomed interruption in the civilian led transition process in Mali.

He then called on the Malian Military transitional authorities and stakeholders to show more commitment to the process of returning to civilian democratic rule.

The Forty-Sixth Ordinary Session of the Mediation and Security Council at the Ministerial Level of ECOWAS opened on June 15 in Accra, with Minister Kemayah heading the Liberian Delegation along with Defense Minister Daniel Ziankahn.
