Bong County: Police retrieve several bags of stolen rice for gov’t stimulus food package

GBARNGA, LIBERIA – Police in Lower Bong County have seized several bags of rice intended for the government’s stimulus food package to the people.

It followed a search and seizure warrant issued by the Salala Magisterial Court.

According to our Lower Bong County Correspondent, the request to issue the warrant was made by Bong County District Six Representative Moima Briggs Mensah following an allegation that distributors were selling tickets for the food.

ELBC correspondent said, the police searched several homes Tuesday, May 4. 2021, and retrieved over four hundred bags of rice, beans, and vegetable oil.

According to our correspondent, police are in the custody of the items seized. Meanwhile, no arrest has been made so far, but the investigation continues into the matter.
