‘Regional Cash Hub Crucial to Government Payment Services’ CBL Governor Tarlue

Monrovia Liberia – The Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia Aloysius Tarlue has described the construction of a cash hub in Gbarnga, Bong County as a major breakthrough in government payment services in the central region.

Governor Tarlue said the facility will also increase cash accessibility and attract more commercial banking institutions to rural areas.

Governor Tarlue was speaking at the weekend when he took a team of USAID officials, headed by Mission Director Sara Walter, on a tour of the CBL Cash Hub currently under construction in Gbarnga.

A CBL release said the tour was intended to inspect progress made so far on the Cash Hub, which will also serve as a regional headquarters of the Central Bank.

Bong County Superintendent Esther Walker welcomed the CBL and USAID team and expressed satisfaction with the level of work at the facility so far.

Liberia Revenue Authority and CBL tellers will be at the Cash Hub to receive tax payments, as well as a Banking Hall set up, where deposits and withdrawals can be made.

The project is expected to be completed, and become operational in time before July 26, 2021 Independence Day celebration.
