NEC Decries Lack of Money to Pay Vendors

Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, Liberia – The Chairperson of the National Elections Commission Madam Davidetta Browne Lansanah says the inability of the Commission to pay its local and international Vendors is affecting the credibility of the electoral body.

NEC is still indebted to vendors who have rendered services to the Commission during the December 2020 Special Senatorial Elections.

Mrs. Lansanah said, many vendors have repeatedly complained that their properties have been seized by creditors due to their inability to pay back loans to commercial banks.

She spoke Monday, at the start of a five-day Internal Lessons learned conference for nearly 80 Senior Election Technicians of the National Elections Commission in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

Since the Special Elections, the Commission is still looking up to the Ministry of Finance to disburse in real cash, the remaining 3.5 million United States Dollars approved for the process.
