Police invites Mike Jabateh for questioning over threats on Chief Justice Francis Korkpor’s life

MONROVIA, LIBERIA- The Liberia National Police has invited Mike Jabateh, for questioning in relation to a social media podcast in which he threatened the life of Chief Justice Cllr. Francis Korkpor.

The LNP said Jabateh’s invitation is to understand the intent of his statement and how such a statement could endanger the life of the Chief Justice.

The Police accused Mike Jabateh of making a threatening statement, indicating that he will take away the life of Chief Justice Korkpor if anything happens to any member of the Mandingo ethnic group in Nimba County.

Police Spokesman, Moses carter said the public can be assured that Mike Jabateh’s fundamental rights to legal representation will be respected while facing the LNP investigation.

The Police Spokesman noted that people bent on threatening the lives of others will face the full weight of the law.

In a related development, State Security has restored calm to Harper and Pleebo cities in Maryland County.

Police Spokesman Moses Carter said a total of thirty-four persons including the four prime suspects were arrested and are currently undergoing police investigation and will shortly be sent to court for prosecution.

In an ELBC Interview Wednesday, April 21, 2021, the Police Spokesman commended citizens of the two cities for collaborating with State Security in restoring stability in the two cities.

At the same time, Moses carter said calm has also returned to Ganta city where a land dispute between two families caused chaos Tuesday in the City.

A police statement says those responsible for the violent demonstration and the burning of the warehouse in Ganta will be prosecuted.
