Internal Affairs Ministry calls for calm in Maryland County

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Internal Affairs Ministry wants protesting motorcyclists and women in Maryland County to remain calm as it is making efforts to remedy the situation in the area.

The protesters have been staging protest including the breaking of prison in Harper, demanding justice for the death of their colleague.

In an ELBC interview Wednesday, March 31, 2021, Internal Affairs Minister, Varney Sirleaf condemned what he called brutal killing of the motorcyclist.

Minister Sirleaf however called on the protesters to maintain peace and stop the violence in the County.

According to Minister, talks are ongoing with stakeholders in the County including the Legislative Caucus, and other local officials to resolve the matter.

Minster Sirleaf said he has reached an agreement with the Justice Minister to beef-up security in Maryland County to ensure calm is restored.
