Twelve inmates break jail in Gbarnga City

GBARNGA, BONG COUNTY, LIBERIA-Twelve inmates have escaped from the Gbarnga Central Prison, after a jail break at the facility.

The inmates, mainly pre-trial detainees, escaped at about 2am on Wednesday, March 16, 2021.

The County Attorney of Bong County, Jonathan Flomo, made the disclosure at a press conference Wednesday evening in Gbarnga.

Atty. Flomo told journalists that the inmates removed the window bar of one of the prison cells and escaped overnight.

The Bong County Chief Prosecutor described the situation as a serious issue, and called on residents of Gbarnga and its environs to help the Police to re-arrest the escapees.

Attorney Jonathan Flomo said:” Efforts are being exerted by the Joint Security of Bong County to ensure that the criminals are re-arrested.”
