On orders of traditional masks, a 75-year-old woman severely beaten on allegation of being a witchcraft

GRAND GEDEH COUNTY – Report from Putu Pennoken in Grand Gedeh County, says a 75-year-old woman has sustained major injuries after being beaten on allegations of witchcraft.

ELBC Grand Gedeh County correspondent said the woman was allegedly beaten on the orders of traditional masks commonly known as Country devils.

About 11 other residents of the town were also tortured for their alleged involvement in witchcraft activities in the area.

Our Correspondent said Local authorities have complained of Country devils interfering into the rule of law by constantly chasing away Police officers.

Meanwhile Grand Gedeh County Representative Dr. George Bolay said authorities of the County will ensure that those involved in torturing the woman will be investigated and face the full weight of the law.
