Mustapha Raji decries discrimination by football stakeholders…….

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), Mustapha Raji, spoke Saturday, March 6, 2021, during the 25th Ordinary Congress of the LFA held at the SKD Sports Complex in Paynesville City.

The LFA President began the Congress on a tough note, as he blasted at individuals (football Stakeholders) constantly referring to him as a Nigerian Citizen rather than a Liberian.

Mr. Raji said:” Their statement was a form of discrimination against me and I will not accept such characterization by “football people”.

Raji said: “I was born under the laws of Liberia like every other Liberian”.

He said people who want to be leaders of the LFA have the right to contest for the position, but should stop misleading people.

He warned members of the Executive Committee and club Presidents to desist from spreading misinformation about the running of football, which has the propensity to undermine the gains made so far in improving football in Liberia.

Raji said the law will be used against individuals who will taint others’ characters for selfish reasons.

During deliberations, some members of the group calling itself Club Presidents Association of Liberia (CPAL) attempted putting halt to the passage of the LFA budget, as they felt the past budget report did not come in time and not satisfactory to them.

That attempt was, however, cleverly thwarted by other stakeholders and the presiding.

Stages FC’s proposal for the stripping off of voting rights from five associations was also defeated.

This means, the Liberia National Old-timers Association (LONA), Bankers Sports Association of Liberia, (BASAAL), the Academicals, the Coaches Association, the Referees Association, and the Beach Soccer Association will vote in the next Football elections.

The LFA President also said as of the next budget year, he will collect every incentive and benefits belonging to the LFA President by law.

The LFA Boss had earlier wave all benefits belonging to the sitting LFA President, but said he will go back on his word to begin collecting every benefit and incentive for the President.
