Commerce Ministry disposes of spoilt rice

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A huge quantity of rice has been quarantined at the Free Port of Monrovia, following the verification of water entering into a shipping vessel.

According to a release issued Monday, March 1, 2021, the Ministry of Commerce is expected to commence the disposal of the commodity on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, in Wein Town, Paynesville, outside Monrovia.

The release said the Commerce Ministry is working with all line ministries and agencies to ensure proper disposal of the damaged rice.

Meanwhile, the Ministry is assuring the public that it will not allow such commodity to enter the local market.

The release quotes the Ministry as commending stakeholders and business entities for their cooperation, and will continue ensuring the safety of all commodities consumed by the Liberian people.
