Mayor Koijee Wants MCC ‘Jurisdictional Issues’ Resolved

Lord Mayor Jefferson Koijee is calling for a review of the Monrovia City Chapter to ensure that it conforms to present-day reality.

Mayor Koijee said transforming Monrovia requires radical approaches that must be backed by a clearly defined legal authority given to the City Government.

He said it is about time, the National Legislature, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and other actors address the long-standing issues of jurisdiction between the MCC and other local government structures.

Mayor Koijee’s statement was contained in his annual State of the City Addressed delivered Tuesday at programs marking the Monrovia Day celebration.
