UN declares Liberia a Peacekeeping Nation-Asst. Defense Minister Collins

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The United Nations (UN) has declared Liberia a Peacekeeping Nation.

Assistant Defense Minister for Public Affairs, Sam Collins, said:” The recognition is based on the professionalism of Liberian troop currently serving on a Peacekeeping Mission in Mali.”

Minister Collins said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to the effect was signed recently between the Liberian Government and the UN.

He said the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia, Major General Prince C. Johnson, represented Liberia at the signing ceremony in Mali.

Speaking with ELBC on Thursday, January 7, 2021, Minister Collins disclosed that Liberia has been ordered to increase its platoon to a company size, to strengthen the Peacekeeping Mission in that West African Nation.

The Defense Spokesperson said:” A deployment training exercise of a hundred-fifty army personnel is taking place to meet the target.”
