Education Ministry, partners to construct additional high schools across Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Ministry of Education and partners have finalized discussions on the construction of additional high schools across Liberia.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Representative Johnson Gwaikolo, made the disclosure Tuesday in an ELBC interview Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

Representative Gwaikolo said the school construction project will be funded by the World Bank, with the Education Ministry serving as implementing partners.

He said the project will also consider major renovation of school buildings in deplorable conditions to improve an enabling learning environment.

The Nimba County Lawmaker wants local authorities to cooperate and support the program.

In another development, the Nimba County District 9 Representative, has lauded the government through the Ministry of Public Works, for approving the rehabilitation of a 38-kilometer road in the district.

Representative Gwaikolo said the stretch of road from Zekepa to Tappita has been in deplorable condition.

He said the pavement of the road will reduce travel time and enhance the provision of medical and educational materials as well as goods and services in the area.

Meanwhile, the Nimba County Lawmaker also praised the government for granting Bledon Administrative District a Community Forest status.

He said it will now allow the people of Bledon to enter into agreements for their benefits.
