MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The newly inducted President of the Liberia Volleyball federation (LVF), Otis Nyanneh, says his leadership team has given a week ultimatum to Cllr. Moifee Kanneh to turn over all properties and documents belonging to the LVF.
Speaking to ELBC Radio Sports Monday, October 26, 2020, Mr. Nyanneh said Cllr. Kanneh’s failure to do so will lead to legal action.
He said Cllr. Kanneh has been serving as president of the LVF illegally for years.
According to him, the Federation of International Volleyball Body (FIVB) and the Confederation of African Volleyball Body (CAVB) have recognized his administration as the legitimate leadership of the LVF.
He, however, said he was unable to participate in the Sunday’s elective congress of the CAVB, because of what he calls manipulation from Cllr. Moifee Kanneh.
But the FIVB, in a recent communication to the African body, said it recognizes Cllr. Moifee Kanneh’s leadership.
That communication was enough for Cllr. Kanneh’s participation in Sunday’s CAVB Elective Congress, which witnessed the election of Moroccan Volleyball President Bouchra Hajij.
Cllr. Kanneh, who was inducted president of the LVF in 2018 for four years, said he will be very happy to go to court.
He told ELBC Sports that his tenure will expire in 2022, and as such:” I will not allow people to hijack the leadership of the LVF, while I am President.”
Mr. Otis Nyanneh and his Leadership team are supported by the Liberia National Olympic Committee and the Youth and Sports Ministry.
Both the Local Olympic Committee and the Youth and Sports Ministry recently withdrew support and recognition from the Kanneh’s Leadership, which is being recognized and supported by the FIVB.
Meanwhile, Cllr. Kanneh has congratulated Mrs. Bouchra Hajij for her election as the new President of the CAVB.
Cllr. Kanneh said Mrs. Hajij’s election to the CAVB Presidency is key for the growth and development of volleyball on the African continent.
The Liberia Volleyball Federation embattled president said Liberia will support his administration in executing programs aimed at developing volleyball across Africa.
Mrs. Bouchra Hajij defeated long time CAVB President, Dr. Amr Elwani 42-12 votes in Sunday October 25, 2020 election, which took place via zoom, due to the COVID-19 pandemic across the world.
