Police investigates Internal Audit Agency Director General’s death

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Police in Monrovia are investigating several persons of interest, in connection with the death of Internal Audit Agency Director General Emmanuel Nyeswa.

The Liberia National Police (LNP) says those being investigated are said to have interacted with Mr. Nyeswa before his death.

The LNP is also urging members of the public to assist with any information surrounding the death of Mr. Nyeswa, assuring those testifying of protection and privacy.

Prior to Mr. Nyeswa’s death, two employees of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) were found dead in a car on Broad Street in a mysterious manner.

In an interview with Information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie Sunday, October 11, 2020, President George Weah announced that the Liberian Government has asked the United States Embassy in Monrovia, to help with the investigations of the three deaths.

Meanwhile, Grand Kru County District Two Representative, Cllr. Fonati Koffa, is calling for calm into investigation in the recent deaths of three employees of Government.

Representative Koffa said:” Investigators should be given the chance to ascertain whether there was foul play or not into the deaths.”

He asserted speculating will question the credibility of the investigation and undermine the public confidence, in the investigation.

Meanwhile, Cllr. Koffa lauded President George Weah’s call for international partners’ involvement in the investigation into the deaths of the three persons.

The Grand Kru County Lawmaker said the President’s assertion is to bring transparency and accountability in the process.
