Liberian Teachers observed World Teachers’ Day

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Teachers in Liberia on Monday, October 5, 2020, joined their counterparts around the globe to celebrate World Teac hers’ Day.

October 5 each year is being set aside by UNESCO to be observed as World Teachers’ Day, in recognition of their services in educating the world population.

Speaking Monday, October 5, 2020, in Monrovia, UNESCO-Liberia Officer-in-Charge Stevenson Seidi, called on Liberians to work together in building a resilient education sector, beyond the Coronavirus outbreak in Liberia.

Mr. Seidi also called for urgent action and increase investment in the education sector of the Country.

In remarks, the President of the National Teachers’ Association of Liberia, Mary Nyumah, thanked President George Weah for approving one-million United States Dollars to pay Private School Teachers as their coronavirus package.

This year’s celebration was held under the theme: ‘Teachers, Learning in Crisis, Reimagining the future.
