Nat’l Elections Commission submits budget for Rep. By-Election in Sinoe and Montserrado Counties

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Elections Commission (LEC) has submitted to the House of Representatives, for consideration a budget for Representative By-Election in Sinoe and Montserrado Counties.

According to ELBC Reporter, of the total amount, over one-hundred-sixty-six-thousand United States Dollars will go towards the election in Sinoe County District-Two, and the remaining two-hundred-twenty-three-thousand for Montserrado County.

The Commission said the budget submitted is under statement of the reality, as the By-Election will also be held during the December 8, 2020, Senatorial Election.

The House of Representatives is expected to resume discussion on the matter soon.

Meanwhile, NEC Chairperson Davidetta Browne-Lansanah says:” Candidates’ nomination for the two Representatives By-Elections for Sinoe and Montserrado Counties will commence on December 5, 2020.”

According to Madam Browne-Lansanah, the nomination period will run from Monday, October 5 to Friday, October 16 2020.

She said the Representatives By-Elections, which were created following the deaths of Nagbe Sloh of Sinoe County and Munah Pelham-Youngblood of Montserrado County, will be conducted on December 8, 2020.

The NEC Boss also disclosed that the candidate nomination exercise for the December 8, 2020, Special Senatorial Election, which started on September 1, ended on September 21.

Meanwhile, the NEC Chairperson said:” The Commission is working along with the Justice Ministry to prosecute anyone who will be engaged in multiple registrations, during the Voter Roll Update exercise.”
