Education Ministry warns against admitting students from Nursery to Grade Five

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Education is warning school administrators against admitting students from Nursery to the fifth grade.

Deputy Education Minister for Instruction, Alexander Duopu, said:” Schools violating the Ministry’s mandate will be made to pay a fine of two-hundred-fifty-thousand Liberian Dollars, in the coffers of the Liberian Government.”

Minister Duopu said the decision not to admit students of the lower classes was reached in a meeting with stakeholders, including the National Teachers Association, the National Parents and Teachers Association among others.

Meanwhile, the President of the Montserrado County Principal Association is appealing to the Ministry of Education to admit all students in class, to conclude Academic 2019/2020 at the end of September.

Mr. Zubah asserted that this will enable schools adequately prepare for Academic 2020/2021 School Calendar in November.
