World Bank Group Donates 10 Ambulances to Boost Liberian Government’s COVID-19 Fight

MONROVIA, LIBERIA -The World Bank Group has donated ten ambulances to Liberia to support the Liberian Government’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Health Minister Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah, as Head of the Incident Management System, received the keys of the vehicles on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at the Health Ministry in Congo Town, outside Monrovia.

Dr. Jallah said the ambulances are also a boost to the Emergency Medical Service and routine health services across the Country.

According to the Health Minister, Montserrado County will receive five of the ten ambulances, while two will be assigned at the Roberts International Airport in Lower Margibi County.

Minister Jallah disclosed that each county in the Southeast is expected to benefit, following the arrival of the additional fifteen ambulances from the World Bank soon.

Meanwhile, Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah said the Country’s COVID-19 response plan is still being reviewed.

Last month President George Weah asked health authorities to review the plan and report findings in ten days to readjust existing health protocols and response budget.

Speaking to reporters Tuesday, August 11, 2020, Dr. Jallah said at the end of the revision process, a six-month COVID-19 response strategy will be developed.

The Health Minister said that though the time has elapsed for the review process, findings will be forwarded to the President for further action.

In the mean time, Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah has boasted of improvement in the Country’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
